What is APJ-RAISE?

APJ-RAISE is a free, student-led research community. Here is what we do, who can join and how your work gets published.
APJ-RAISE (APJ Research Alliance for Innovation, Science and Education) is a free research community run by students. Students from any college or country learn how research works, find people with the same interests, do real research in small groups and publish their work.
Why we started
Many students want to do research but do not know where to start. Their college may not have a research group in their field, or they may not know anyone to work with. APJ-RAISE gives them a place to start, a team and a clear path from the first paper they read to the first work they publish.
We are inspired by the ideas of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam: dream big, ask questions and turn ideas into action. We are an independent student community. We are not linked to or endorsed by him, his family or any related institution.
How it works
- Join: apply on our website. It is free and open to students aged 18 or older. Once approved, you get a member ID card.
- Learn: join sessions on how research works: reading papers, methods and tools.
- Find your group: meet peers who care about the same problems and form a small team.
- Do the research: pick a clear question, run experiments and write up what you found.
- Publish: your paper, code and data are published on our Open Research page, with your name on it.
What fields?
We start with artificial intelligence, data science, computing and mathematics. Students from other fields are welcome too.
Is it a journal?
No. Our Open Research page is a student community page, not a peer-reviewed journal. We are honest about this. Authors keep the copyright of their work, and publishing is free.
Where we are now
APJ-RAISE is new. We are in our founding phase, so there are no published papers yet. If you want to be part of it from the start, you can join on our website.
